Effects of Overexposure:
Prolonged overexposure to Crystalline Free Silica Dust above the Threshold Limit Value specified above may cause scarring of the lungs with cough and shortness of breath. A delayed lung injury, silicosis, may result from breathing free silica. Silicosis is a form of disabling, progressive and sometimes fatal pulmonary fibrosis characterized by the presence of typical nodulation in the lungs.

Emergency and First Aid Procedures:
Irrigate eyes immediately and repeatedly with water and get prompt medical attention. Wash exposed skin areas with soap and water.

Use dry cleanup methods that do not disperse the dust into the air. Avoid breathing the dust. Emergency procedures are not required.

Material can be disposed of as common waste or returned to the container for later use if it is not contaminated.

Respiratory Protection:
In dust environment, the use of NIOSH approved respirator is recommended.

Ventilation:
Local exhaust can be used, if necessary, to control air borne dust levels.

Eye Protection:
In dusty areas, the use of tight fitting goggles is recommended.

Skin Protection:   
Use of barrier creams, gloves, boots and clothing to protect the skin from prolonged contact with wet cement in plastic concrete, mortar or slurries. Immediately working with cement or cement containing materials, workers should shower with soap and water. Precautions must be observed because cement burns with little warning, little heat is sensed.
